How the Throne Works
Oghara (made up of the Ogharefe and Oghareki sub-clans) runs a rotational monarchy: the crown alternates between the Orefe ruling house in Ogharefe and the Oreki ruling house in Oghareki. After a king from one house rules for life, the next king must come from the other house, ensuring balance and unity between the two clans. The king is supported by the Iyasere (traditional prime-minister, always chosen from the opposite clan to the king), the Oguedion (Council of Chiefs & elders) and titled palace officers such as the Unugbrogodo and Unuevworo who administer quarters and festivals.
